This British war medal from World War I was awarded to Diane Ginty's grandfather, Pte Clarence Gledhill, 27714 of the West Yorkshire Regiment.
He lived in Dewsbury and was wounded at Arras and his family received a telegram reporting him as missing in action. Luckily, he had been wounded ad came home relatively safe and sound.
There are plenty of these medals in existence, but what makes this one stand out is that it is still in the original box and the envelope it was posted to Pte Gledhill in. It's postmarked York.
