As a seven year old boy I was scared stiff when I saw Ulcombe 成人快手 Guard platoon turn out to capture a German pilot who was floating down on a parachute between Ulcombe and Headcorn. It was mid morning on Saturday August 31st. 1940. They piled into their Commanding Officers open top Bentley car armed with shotguns, slashers and billhooks. Saying that the Nazi would not stand a chance off they went. About an hour later they returned with the pilot sitting on the back of the car and everyone was cheering. He was Canadian - Flying Officer Sprenger of No.1 (RCAF) Squadron based at Northolt. His Hurricane fighter crashed at Broomfield.
