My granddad was in India the first time that he had left the East End Of London.
He was set to go to Burma, But he was playing Cricket with the local people and everyone played cricket in bare feet. He broke his toe on the cricket ball.
He ended up in hospital and then was unable to go to Burma. Everyone who went in his place, or who went at the same time, But all these other people died in the Battle Zone. Sometimes fate, providence or cricket intervenes.
