My lasting Memory of World War II isâ€¦I joined the ARP (Civil Defence) in 1940 (I said I was older than I was). Involved in the Blitz and found that â€˜ignorance is blissâ€™ I saw things that at that young age I should never have seen. I have happier memories of the WLA.
