Concert Information

Edward Gardner directs the 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Tippett's moving oratorio 'A Child of Our Time', prefaced by Beethoven's Apollonian Fourth Piano Concerto and Knussen's delightful suite from Higgledy Piggledy Pop.

An ideal cast features in Tippett's extraordinarily prescient work, begun at the start of the Second World War but prefiguring its atrocities, and memorably replacing hymn chorales with spirituals. Gifted 成人快手 Radio 3 New Generation Artist Louis Schwizgebel takes on Beethoven's graceful fourth concerto, while we follow Maurice Sendak's dog Jennie to heaven in Knussen's affectionate requiem The Way to Castle Yonder.
