As we head towards the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Vernon chats to comedian and war history enthusiast Al Murray who chooses his Tracks Of My Years.

First coming to widespread attention for his work with Harry Hill, Al became a bone fide national treasure with his 'Pub Landlord' character, who's still touring over 30 years since his first appearance.

In recent years, Al's become as well known for his history books, podcasts and TV shows, particularly those around World War II. And he co-hosts the podcast 鈥淲e Have Ways Of Making You Talk鈥 with the historian James Holland. The two even have a festival spin-off in Buckinghamshire, which this September is being staged for the fifth time.

His first choice on Tracks of My Years reminds him of his Grandfather, who played it incessantly. It鈥檚 a novelty song from 1922 by Charles Penrose, and I鈥檓 sure you鈥檒l be chuckling along to this, it鈥檚 鈥淭he Laughing Policeman鈥.
