The traditions connected to fairy forts are so powerful that, even today, people rarely interfere with them. They aren鈥檛 built on; roads curve around them; farmers don鈥檛 plough over them. But when is the last time that you saw one? In a new book called Portals to the Past, folklorist Jo Kerrigan looks into the history and beliefs associated with them.
