The DPD Murder, Part 3

Episode 3 of 6

With the suspected inside man arrested, detectives must prove he knew he was setting up a murder. A new investigation begins when a man tries to kill himself and his learning-disabled son.

After an intensive investigation, detectives think they have finally identified the inside man.

When his vehicle is spotted, officers give chase, only to find the man driving the car is not Sukhmandeep but a man he sold his car to the previous day. With no leads, the team is concerned Sukhmandeep will flee like the four other men on the run, but intelligence is received that indicates he may be holed up at an address still in the UK. Officers are dispatched to raid the property, and Sukmandeep is finally taken into custody.

To make a case against him, DCI Mark Bellamy and his team need to prove that Sukhmandeep supplied information about Aurman鈥檚 whereabouts to attack him. If he knew what he was doing, even though he hadn鈥檛 wielded a weapon, he would be as guilty as those who did. But just as the interview team are about to confront him with a detailed account of his assistance on the morning of the attack, Sukhmandeep puts forward his own statement, denying everything. Pushed further, he claims he were threatened by the gang, but the claim of coercion is quickly undermined by officers who investigate Sukhmandeep鈥檚 demeanour on the day.

With a murder charge authorised, Sukhmandeep joins the four other attackers on trial. Four other attackers remain on the run.

The Major Investigations Unit is called to a new incident in Droitwich Spa. An 80 year-old woman is found dead at home after her husband called emergency services to report that he had tried to kill himself and his 45-year-old learning-disabled son with overdoses.
