Ola Baikie who has sickle cell disease says more ethnic minorities need to give blood.

Sickle cell disease is a lifelong condition caused by a faulty gene that affects how red blood cells develop. It particularly affects people of African and Caribbean descent. Some patients have regular blood transfusions as a form of treatment for the condition.

As part of a guest edit on Radio 5 live Ola spoke to people from African and Caribbean backgrounds to find out why they didn't give blood.

NHS Blood and Transplant says it urgently needs 40,000 new black donors to stop the pain experienced by people with sickle cell disease.
