Fire Island explores gay pride and prejudice
As Pride Month gets underway, new movie Fire Island is getting a lot of attention. It's a gay romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, set about 60 miles east New York City on Fire Island – one of America's oldest gay resorts. The film purports to be more than just a fun fest. It aims to show how LGBTQ people, long discriminated against, can also discriminate amongst one another through racism and class. Tom Brook speaks to the star and writer, Joel Kim Booster.
