When does street-preaching become anti-social?
Religious groups that use loudhailers to preach in Leicester city centre could face a fine of up to a thousand pounds.
The city council has introduced new powers to tackle anti social behaviour, including begging and using scooters and electric bikes, but it will be extended to some street preachers as well. They were overwhelmingly backed by the public in a recent consultation.
Members of the groups have said they feel they are being unfairly targeted as a public nuisance for exercising their right to religious free speech.
