AIRLINE FILM
Finance expert Iona Bain discovers how some UK airlines could be breaching the equalities act. To watch with subtitles, go to iPlayer and search for Morning Live from 07/05/25.
In response to the film, National Express told us its dedicated team and compliant website support accessibility, and it makes reasonable adjustments when possible. It said its clearly communicated booking fees cover operational costs, and while its cheapest fares are online-only, staff help customers find the best value. Ryanair said it promotes online booking to keep fares low, with a £50 fee for call centre bookings and a £15 surcharge for flight changes by phone. It said that visually impaired passengers can book online using screen readers or with help from others. And easyJet said any customers who inform the company they need to book by phone due to a disability will have online discounts applied. It apologised for the incorrect advice given to the Morning Live team in two research calls, and it says its refreshed all agents with the policy. We also contacted British Airways and Emirates – but they didn't respond.
