Deflation Stalks the Eurozone

Business Daily

Available for over a year

Can the ECB's president Mario Draghi save Europe's economy from the threat of deflation - falling prices and chronically weak demand? On Thursday, he cut one of the ECB's key interest rates to below zero, in effect penalising banks that don't lend. Sarah Hewin, European research director at Standard Chartered bank in London, discusses whether the move will work to ward off the deflationary threat. Plus we ask if national customs matter in a globalised economy. Lord Bilimoria, chairman and founder of Anglo-Indian Cobra beer, tells us about his experience of selling beer into 45 different countries. And David Clive Price, who has 25 years' experience advising businesses in Asia and has just published a book on the subject called "The Master Key to China", explains why so many western firms get it wrong in China.
