Ebola healthcare workers wear head-to-toe hazmat suits to protect themselves from the deadly virus. But this outfit shields the caregivers’ faces, and that can be disconcerting for patients. So the Los Angeles-based artist Mary Beth Heffernan came up with a simple work-around: take portraits of the medical personnel, and then attached those photos to the workers’ protective suits. She travelled to Liberia to put her idea into action. Image: Jianjay Potter and Grace Zardon in Monrovia, Liberia. Credit: Marc Campos
