Afghanistan's love of cricket was fostered in refugee camps in Pakistan, during the worst years of the conflict. But now some areas of Afghanistan are finally experiencing peace, there is a burgeoning cricket scene at grassroots level. Afghan Connection chief executive and founder Sarah Fane explains how the UK charity has helped the sport grow, by providing projects across 22 different provinces, building pitches at schools and providing professional coaching qualifications. The desire for more cricket facilities in Afghanistan has increased over the years due, in large part, by the continued success of the national team. Fane says: 鈥淭he Afghan people have really been captivated by the team, they've had no heroes for years.鈥 Credit: Neighborhood cricket game in Kabul (Getty Images)
