Former Coronation Street actress Jean Alexander, who starred as Hilda Ogden in the soap for over 20 years, has died aged 90. The actress, who also starred in Last of the Summer Wine, passed away in hospital on Friday. Daran Little, a former writer on Coronation street, paid tribute to the “absolutely adorable” actress. He told 5 live that she “loved Shakespeare” and had been given a signed photo by Sir Laurence Olivier who described her as “the greatest television actress of this generation”.
