No longer "the world's most useless airport"

The Newsroom

Available for over a year

There's a general election today in one of the most remote places on earth - the British Overseas Territory of St. Helena in the South Atlantic. Currently the only way to get to the island is by ship, with departures every three weeks from South Africa. An airport was recently completed at a cost of 370 million dollars - and was supposed to make travel to and from the island easy for the first time in history. But the location chosen for the airport turned out to be too windy for most passenger planes to land safely. In recent days, though, a South African airline has announced plans for a weekly service. Tammy Williams is the station manager of Saint FM in Jamestown and told the 成人快手's Alex Ritson how the airline had solved the problem: (PHOTO: St. Helena's empty airport Credit: The Royal Navy)
