‘Sad’ as Captain Tom’s legacy ends in demolition

Available for over a year

Neighbour Lesley Gough reflects as work starts on bringing down the spa built in his name. The building was due to house the Captain Tom Foundation, a charity set up after the death of Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised £38m for NHS charities during the Covid-19 pandemic. He walked 100 laps of the garden at his home in Marston Mortaine, Bedfordshire, where his family constructed the spa. Since then, Central Bedfordshire Council ordered the building to be demolished because it differed from the plans they originally submitted.
