"Boomerang kids": Is London letting down young people?

Available for over a year

Journalist Emma Loffhagen is a self-confessed 'boomerang kid'. After a pandemic spent living in her childhood bedroom she was finally able to fly the nest, and start what she thought would be a new, exciting part of her twenties. But fast forward nearly exactly a year, and she was back on the doorstep of her parents North London home. There'd no falling out, no awkward roommate love triangle. Instead - the cause was far simpler, but felt more insurmountable. She simply couldn't afford the rent. Emma wrote about her experience in her Evening Standard column and got hordes of young people getting in touch with her to share their similar stories. 成人快手 Radio London's Shay Kaur Grewal has been speaking to Emma to find out what it's like to be a 'boomerang kid', what London is getting wrong when it comes to young people, and how the city could change.
