Could egg freezing help save a rare British butterfly?
Available for over a year
Humans have been freezing their eggs as a fertility treatment for decades, but what if we could do the same to insects' eggs? Researchers from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge are investigating whether a vulnerable species of butterfly could be reared from eggs frozen in liquid nitrogen. They hope it will safeguard the future of the black and yellow species and have a positive impact on conservation efforts across the world. Helena Burke has the details.
