Residents urge Woven Oaks rethink

Available for over a year

Hospital bosses have warned a major housing development in Kidderminster will result in NHS services getting worse, unless they get millions of pounds from a developer. Taylor Wimpey plans to build almost 1,500 homes off the Comberton Road in Kidderminster. Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has publicly said the Worcestershire Royal and Kidderminster Hospitals are at ‘maximum capacity’ and that new homes would put ‘significant stress’ on services. Tom Edwards reports. Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust did originally ask for £1million two years ago, when the planning application was first looked at. They’ve since doubled their 'ask', saying they've had to re-assess the request due to the pressures on healthcare. Wyre Forest District Council say the scheme isn't considered viable, if they request £2.1million from the developer. At time of recording, they are refusing to push for the cash.
