Trial helps mother beat 'aggressive' blood cancer

Available for over a year

A Leicestershire woman is in remission after becoming the first person in the UK to take part in a clinical trial for a rare and aggressive brain cancer. Caroline Palmer, from Coalville, was diagnosed with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) in 2023. The OptiMATe trial, funded by Stand Up To Cancer, combined chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and a stem cell transplant. Researchers hope the trial will improve survival rates for this challenging disease. Dr Chris Fox is consultant haematologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and explained more about Caroline's type of cancer, and Caroline told 成人快手 Leicester's Ady Dayman that the treatment was a lifeline, allowing her to return to teaching and care for her family.
